SKIING IN WINTER ATHLETIC CONTESTS AMONG POLISH COLONY IN THE YEARS 1986- 2008

The world athletic contests among Polish emigrants in Poland have been organized since 1934. However, merely summer contests had been organized till the mid of the 1980s. In 1986 winter contests (in Zakopane) were initiated , which take place regularly every two years in Beskidy Śląskie.

SKI RUNNING ON THE AREA OF LIMANOWSZCZYZNA BETWEEN 1974-2008

Limanowa Experiment, also called Limanowa Trial, was conducted on primary school students from second to eight classes in Limanowa area in 1974 – 1978. The undertaking was held under the auspices of Academy of Physical education in Cracow.Academy of Physical education in Cracow.
Limanowa Trial turned out to be a golden opportunity to find new talents.

SKIING IN THE “SOKÓŁ” GYMNASTIC ASSOCIATION IN JASŁO (AN OUTLINE)

Gymnastic Society “Sokół” was formed in Jasło in 1887 and it was the first organization of physical culture in the town. Skiing came to existence in gymnastic societies as a form outside recreation but later on it turned into the leading sport. Teachers of local primary school were the main organizators of this skiing sport in “Sokół”.

CARPATHIAN SKIERS ASSOCIATION IN LVIV - HISTORICAL OUTLINE

The second half of the 19th century was marked by a rapid development of skiing in the alpine and scandinavian countries. The eastern Carpathian mountains, which were explored by Polish tourists, were part of Galicia, a part of Polish lands, which were then under Austro-Hungarian occupation. It simplified communication and brought trends and solutions to this area.

KRAKOW’S SKIER CONTRIBUTION TO DEVELOPMENT OF POLISH SKIING TO 1914

The significant influence on skiing development in the area of Poland before the I World War had the people from the Krakow circle. In the discussed period there were two significant associations which played the important role, namely The Tatras Association of Skiers and the Skiing Section of Academic Sports Association.
